Global FC: UFL 1st Division Champion

Declaring the champion for the UFL 1st Division boiled down to two thing:

1. Kaya FC must win their game against Stallion FC

2. Global FC must win against Loyola Meralco Sparks

I was not willing to miss the chance of watching these games live. This is the reason why I was in RMS last June 26…to witness the action.

Kaya FC before the game

1st game was Kaya FC against Stallion FC. Let me tell you that game was very intense. Global FS fans were with the Stallion FC fans cheering for Stallion FC. The game was very heated that the players were getting hot headed in the pitch. Doctora got a red card while Anton Del Rosario was given a yellow card for getting in the face of a Stallion player.

Kaya FC was able to win the game because of Nate Burkey’s goal and the Ultra Kaya were celebrating the victory but the championship is still not over. The next game was Global FC against Loyola Meralco Sparks. If Global FC loses then Kaya FC will be declared champion.

The game started and it was more intense than the first game. James Younghusband is so different when he is in the pitch very aggressive and hot headed. Phil Younghusband was well guarded by the Global FS players to ensure that he will not be able to score. There was a time that Meralco Sparks was able to get a goal but was not counted because it was offside.

The game ended with a draw but it still means that Global FC was the champion.

Side Story…..

My apologies if the games are not that detailed I was not able to take notes during the game because I was swept with the excitement of watching the game live. I know that every football fanatic knows what happened that day hehe

But let me tell you some side stories:

Angel walking in the stands to go the locker rooms and greeting the Global Force

Phil Younghusband also in the stand…..(okay now that is one cute boy hehe rosy cheeks and all)

Kaya FC passing by the fans as they ascend to the upper bleachers to watch the game of Global and Meralco. Nate Burkey, Lexton Moy, Aly Borromeo, Jason Sabio, Joshua Beloya, Adrien Semblat, Anton Del Rosario and Armand Del Rosario. Let me tell you I was so excited I thought I will faint hahaha but I need to keep my composure I might get kicked out of RMS.

My affirmation that Jerry Barbosa is a very good player. He has the speed and the skill.

Carlie De Murga is a genius inside the pitch. His footwork and his turns are so precise that opponents cannot get the ball from him.

Anto Gonzales is a very very quick player. I find him so cute he is like a baby in the pitch but mind you a lethal baby.

Misagh Bahadoran joining us in the stand. Watching him as he sits in the corner watching the game broke my heart. You can see that he wants to play for his team but unable to due to a very very silly misunderstanding and a referee with a hearing problem. But he was very accommodating to his fans, taking pictures and giving autographs. And I must say that I’m glad that people did that before the game and during half time, people was giving him space during the game though a lot of people were taking stolen pictures of him. During the second half and the game was heating up Misagh got the Global flag and started waving it and dancing. He told that fans that his respects for the fans was renewed because cheering was even more tiring than playing he said. But after saying this he continued to wave the flag and cheer.

When Global FC won I was so surprised when Carlie decided to remove his shorts and threw it in the stands. I had to look away haha I guess I am conservative but some of the fans were not I can here girls saying “picturan mo si Carli!!!!!!!!!!!). Carlie did not stop there he also took of his shirt leaving him wearing only his briefs! In my head I was like “wear shorts Carli please wear something other than your underwear” but to my dismay and to the delight of the other fans he did not don anything until the awarding ceremonies.

My heart broke for the Kaya FC players but they took it like a man and went down the pitch to congratulate Global FC. I am still proud of Kaya FC and I know next season will be our season.

With the end of UFL Season and some of the players going home, footballs fan are looking forward to the training camp of Azkals in the USA (hope it will be televised), Clear Dream Match in August, Long Teng Cup in October and a friendlies in Cebu in November.

Birthday Dinner at Anix’s House of Kare Kare

I mentioned to my mom that there is a restaurant along Sumulong Highway that I would like to try and that is Anix’s House of Kare Kare. So for my birthday she said that she will treat me there. I told my mom to call the restaurant to make reservations for every time I pass by the parking lot is full. My mom was able to make a reservation for June 23 at 6:00 pm.

Fortunately when we arrived there were not a lot of people in the restaurant so finding a parking space was a breeze. Upon checking the menu we decided to get the best sellers, my mom did extensive research hehehe. We ordered the Kare Kare Classic, Mutya ng Antipolo and Crispy Pata. My mom also ordered Lumpiang Ubod but I passed because I know we ordered quite a lot already.

Just to clarify what is Mutya ng Antipolo, it is Anix’s version of a French Bouillabaisse. Now I’m a big fan of creamy seafood soup from Clam Chowder to Bouillabaisse. There is something about soup that warms my soul. When the soup arrived in a big bowl I was quite worried that we won’t be able to finish it but I was wrong because the soup was so good that me and my mom was able to finish the serving. The soup has just the right consistency not too thin and not too creamy. There were its of carrots and celery that added texture to the soup. They were also not stingy with the seafood. There were mussels, squid, fish, shrimps and crab. The squid was not tough at all which was surprising. The soup base was very flavorful and satisfying.

Mutya ng Antipolo

There is nothing special with the Crispy Pata when it arrived on the table but when you eat the meat it is so juicy and flavorful. Most of the time when you eat Crispy Pata there are parts when the meat is dry but with Anix’s Crispy Pata no part was dry. Though I would like the sauce to be more acidic but aside from that 2 thumbs up for the Crispy Pata.

Crispy Pata

The Kare Kare for me was not that spectacular though I’m not saying that it is not good for me it was just on the sweet side. The meat was soft and fall of the bone tender. For me the Kare Kare was not the star of the meal. I just had one serving then turned my attention to the Crispy Pata and Mutya ng Antipolo.

Kare Kare

If I will be asked if I will come back to Anix’s House of Kare Kare, YES I WILL. The restaurant has real potential. I would like to try other items in their menu like the Bangus ala Pobre and their Bulalo Steak. Though they need to improve their service. The servers were horsing around when we were eating and I do not appreciate that.

If you have foreigner friends or balikbayan friends and you would like to let them experience Filipino Food, Anix’s House of Kare Kare is a good choice. The price is quite reasonable and the food is good.

Note: Sissy if you are reading this we need to eat here when you come home for a visit 🙂

Anix’s House of Kare Kare is located at #71 Sumulong Highway Sitio Kamias, Brgy. Mambugan, Antipolo City

Memories of Bizu Patisserie

When Filipino hears macaroons they usually think of the coconut dessert that we enjoy during fiestas but now we can also a pastry from France that is so far from the macaroons that we are familiar with.

And when we talk about French Macaroons only one patisserie comes to mind and that is Bizu Patisserie.

Bizu Patisserie caters to both those with a sweet tooth and for those who likes savory food. They also have an afternoon tea set that is perfect for friends who would love to sit down and catch up with each other. They also offer catering services.

But for me Bizu Patisserie means desserts! If you are a sweet tooth like me visit Bizu Patisserie at the following locations http://www.bizupatisserie.com/store_locations

Here are some pictures of the treats that I enjoy in Bizu Patisserie

Early Morning Birthday Surprise!

June 21, 2012 – After a nerve wreaking game of Kaya FC against Pasargad I decided to go to bed early.

June 22 at exactly 12 midnight I got a text message from Joker greeting me a happy birthday. Since I was already awake I decided to check my BB to check for messages. There was a notification in my FB that Karina Marie Isonza posted in my timeline. I was so surprised when I saw what Karie posted

Aly Borromeo 🙂

It is a birthday greeting from Aly Borromeo hahaha I almost fainted! Thanks Karie and Devie for making this happen and of course thank you to captain Aly Borromeo for agreeing to have this picture taken 🙂

Next goal to have a picture taken with Aly Borromeo :)))))

This will happen I just have to believe hehehe

Razon’s More Than Halo Halo and Palabok

Before I start with this post I would just like to clear that I’m not a bona fide food blogger but one thing is for sure I love food 🙂

Whenever I’m going from the North I always pass by at Caltex in NLEX NB because of these 2 reasons:

1. Fashion Rack

2. Razon’s

Razon’s is popular because of their Halo Halo and Palabok but this post not about their 2 most famous menu items.

This is about their Caldereta and Kare Kare.

For people who knows me well knows that I love Caldereta…..there is something about stewed beef that I find so satisfying and comforting.

Razon’s version is one of the best I had….the best is so tender that you can pull it apart with your fork. The sauce is just the right tomato flavor with a hint of spiciness that does not overpower the sauce. The sauce is rich and flavor that it is so satisfying. No need for any condiments it is that good.

Beef Caldereta

Their Kare Kare is also very very good…..beef so tender and the sauce oh my the sauce is so yummy that you have to stop yourself from getting an extra order of rice. Their bagoong is also tasty without being too salty.

Here is a picture of their Palabok

Not all Razons Stores have these menu items so far I was just able to get it from their branch in Caltex and the one in San Fernando, Pampanga.

So for your next visit up north, visit Razons and try their Kare Kare and Caldereta I swear it to die for 🙂

Hanging out at Azkals Sports Bar

I was able to watch 2 Global FC games in a span of 5 days. The first one was last Thursday and the most recent was yesterday. Both games were exciting and I was able to meet some Karie’s friends that she meet in Bacolod for the friendly between the Azkals and Guam.

After each game we headed to Azkals Sports Bar located in The Fort Strip. This is not my first time to go to the bar my first time was with Khen as I blog last March (https://abiggirlinasmallworld.wordpress.com/2012/03/09/first-visit-to-the-azkals-sports-bar/)

This time around I was with Karie and our new found friends Devie, Betchay and Ynna.

For our visit last Thursday, we were also joined by Jeffrey Christiaens, Ace Bright and Venus (sorry Venus I was not able to catch your last name). For Karie and I just came from our VETS Update we were quite hungry after the game so we decided to split an order of Cagara Country Fried Chicken and Paolo’s Salisbury Steak and a starter of Angel’s Nachos. (Please forgive the quality of the pic hehe I was using my camera phone)

Sharing an order of Cagara Country Fried Chicken and Paolo’s Salisbury Steak with Karie

The Cagara Country Fried Chicken was very good I really like the sauce and the side vegetable (I think because it was loaded with bacon hehehe). Between the chicken and the Salisbury Steak I preferred the chicken.

After eating our dinner we chatted with Jeffrey and Venus. Karie even taught Jeff a new Tagalog word “naaalala” now we just have to see if he remembers it hahaha. Venus is also very entertaining she regaled us with her stories of her meeting famous celebrities.

About quarter past 12:00 Patrick Reichelt arrived with his best friend Kevin. I find him very endearing for it was his birthday that day and he went out of his way to go to Azkals Sports Bar because Ace Bright called him to tell him that Betchay was waiting for him. He also greeted everyone when he arrived and said goodbye when he left.

We were again in the Azkals Sports Bar yesterday after the game of Global against Stallions. I decided to order Ace Quesadilla Burger while Karie again opted to have the Cagara Country Fried Chicken. That night we were able to enjoy our 10% discount and complimentary drink because we have the Azkals Sports Bar privilege card.

Karie’s Favorite Cagara Country Fried Chicken

Ace Quesadilla Burger for me 🙂

I always have fun whenever I go to Azkals Sports Bar because you get to spend time with people who loves the game as much as you do plus the food is great, the ambiance is nice and inviting and the staffs are very accommodating (especially the owner, Sir Mel 🙂 )

So I invite anyone who loves football or is curious about football come and visit the Azkals Sports Bar in The Fort Strip you might even meet some of your favorite Azkal or find new friends 🙂

Finally a Clear Picture!

June 14 was quite an eventful day for me…..Vets Update, last day in the office of my former boss and Karie and I got to watch the game of Global against Guam.

7:00 pm Karie and I left the office without even saying goodbye to anyone for we were worried that someone might stop us from leaving the office. The traffic gods were favoring us that day for we got to RMS in time for the second half. One good thing when watching an UFL game? The games are free and we get to have prime seats hehehe

When we got to our seats the players were warming up. Angel was on the pitch kicking the ball around. Misagh came near the railings to smile and greet the fans. (Okay I was star struck hahaha those eyes are amazing!)

The second half started with Guam leading with 2 points. Then Global was able to even it out. There were a couple of shots at goal that was really disappointing. As one spectator said…”the best goalkeeper of the match….the goal posts”.

Carli came in at the second and so did Angel but the most amazing thing was when Angel gave Carli a shirt and Carli went to the goalkeeper to tell him that Carli will be the new goalkeeper. Let me tell you the crowd went wild! Carli was very amusing to watch as a goalkeeper for he would always walk towards the center of the pitch, it seems that he still want to play as one of the MF than stay at the back as the GK. Carli was able to make 2 saves and every time he made a save he will face the crowd and urge them to cheer. There was a time the ball was not yet cleared and he was already urging the crowd to cheer! Good thing one of his teammates was able to clear the ball.

After the game, the spectators were allowed to go down the pitch to talk to the players. Before going down Karie was encouraging me to take a picture with Denis Wolf (okay can I just say I was kinda shy to approach the players for reason I also do not know haha). Denis was kind enough to oblige our request

With Denis Wolf 🙂

With Denis Wolf 🙂

Then we had our picture taken with Patrick Reichelt, Karie said to him “You finally know how to smile” And he replied “Yes I learned from the Philippines” so cute

Patrick Reichelt

Then with Paul Mulders…(oh my I was so shy that I did not move closer to him, he placed his hand on my back gaaahhhh hahaha)

Paul Mulders

Next on our list was Angel…..

Angel Guirado

Then with Misagh…..I must admit I was determined to have my picture taken with him because the last picture I had with him was so blurred hahaha

Finally a clear picture with Misagh :))))))))))))))))))))))

We wanted to take a picture with Carli but when we turned around he already went to the dugout but I was not disappointed because we were able to have our picture with Jeffrey Christiaens

and Jonah Romero, can I just say I really really like him because he is such a nice guy 🙂

Hopefully I would be able to add more pictures with the players on this blog 🙂

On Tuesday I will be watching the game between Global and Stallions with Karie 🙂
